Crazy Compass
2009 Embroidery Club
We are stepping outside the box and making a quilt in a non traditional way. We will be participating
in
the EmbroidaBlock of the Month called Crazy Compass. EmbroidaBlock is an innovative and fun
technique that gives even the new quilter
professional looking results with every block. This unique look
combines piecing with embroidery to produce a look of elegance and
add interest to your quilts. Not
only will each block be perfect but the technique also requires minimal cutting and little or no math.
Let
your embroidery machine do all the work for you, from piecing to beautiful decorative stitches and
gorgeous all over embroidery. From
a distance some areas of your quilt look like printed fabric but up
close it takes on a whole new dimension with all over embroidery
motifs stitched in well thought out
places.
This is a 10 month program. You have the option of quilt as you go method or quilt
top. Quilt as you go makes it fast! Using this method you will hoop the batting and the stabilizer, piece the block, add the
backing fabric and do the quilting in the hoop. You will then trim the blocks and join using the sashing and joining techniques. Quilt top method is just that, a quilt top. With this method you will hoop only the stabilizer, piece the block, and do the decorative
stitching. Finish as you normally would.
You will receive a CD each month with the design, block info. and a powerpoint demo.
If you have EQ6
you can open the quilt project and play with colors and fabrics. The cost is only $10 a month, or if you
prepay for the year the cost is only $75.00.
You will need to sign up each month and get your design CD and supply list. January will be our organizational month. No machine will be required this month. We will spend January talking about
fabric, threads and quilting options. You will receive month 1 CD so you can have your design transferred and ready to stitch
out in February.

Prickly Pear
January - July 2009 Sewing Club
We will be exploring the use of decorative stitches and all the wonderful threads
we have available as we make the Prickly Pear quilt first half of the year. Prickly Pear is fusible appliquι blocks that are
brought to life with the use of threads and stitches. What a fun way to use all those decorative stitches on our machine.
You
will need to sign up each month and get a supply list. The quilt consists of 12 blocks. We will begin in January by getting
our blocks ready to start stitching on. No machine will be required this month. We will then complete four blocks per
month starting with February ending with April. May and June will be spent working on the border. July the blocks will
be sewn together
